ITALIAN PAVILION
>
In Italy, beauty has always been the result of processes that incorporate three dimensions:
Cultural - Environmental - Social.
The ability of our culture to hold together apparently opposing worlds and elements is one of its most profound and personal characteristics. This “aduality”, that is this ability to create a dialogue and therefore a synthesis between apparently irreconcilable elements, results in the creation of a “third place”, physical, spatial, spiritual. This place of dialogue is Beauty. This ability, this propensity, cultural, environmental and social, to create beauty in the action of meeting and dialogue, a propensity that today we could define as “Resilience”, has its extraordinary form in the Italian city, in its interior, in its spaces of common and private life and in its relationship with Nature, and the Landscape. In Italian cities and in its dialogue with the Territory, the connection of belonging of the individual citizen to the community takes place. The creation, over the centuries, of “Codes”, “Rules”, “Manners”, “Statutes”, “Constitutions”, have been the founding steps of this ability to unite the human being to the community and to nature, through its action in the field of work, daily life, rights and duties towards others and the community. The Italian Pavilion project wants to “signify”, in its architectural form, its content. It therefore wants to mean this idea of Beauty as an invention of a place of meeting and dialogue and its codification.
