The studies about wind potential in Sardinia, have been brought to identfy, from macro-wind point of view, a group of locations and areas, hypothetically interesting for realization of wind farms, which can produce electric energy at an economically acceptable price.
The identified area into the territory of Siurgus Donigala and San Basilio, has the characteristic having medium speed values of wind, responsible for plant’s realization for the use of these potentials.
In location’s choice of the wind farm, different alternative places was been considered, thinking about of these factors: site’s wind, absence of excessive turbolence, possibility of easy linkages with high-medium voltage line, use of the site, existence of a good viability, existence of urban and environmental constraints, technical feasibility, integration in natural and social element.
In within the territory of Siurgus Donigala and San Basilio, the site with all of those features is the one which is located farther away from residential areas and has an advantageous position for wind exposure, which permits a better plant’s efficiency.
In addition, In machinery’s location, the project considered the presence of some archeological sites, not giving the statutory buffer zone.
The power machine was been selected considering that with the same amount of produced MW, it need less machineries , reducing the impact on surrounding environment; in addiction, from some studies about costs of produced kW, the machines with 850 kW have a lower cost.
